A few good men…
My cuppa tea…
Thanks to zoe (oops i mean joeeey) who sent us yummy pics of pancakes from Paddington Pancakes at approximately 11.00am, we were craving for pancakes yesterday (ie. Wednesday) !! We couldnt think of anything else. The smell of pancakes and syrup was just wafting up our nostrils from our imagination. So of all things, at lunchtime we went pancake hunting. In the middle of KL, on foot no less (?!) LOL. Thankfully the furthest we had to venture was Menara Citibank, as voila! San Francisco (the coffee place not the steakhouse, mind u) had pancakes !! Haha… oh joy. So i had everyone’s favourite English breakfast, pancakes - for lunch. It just doesnt get any crazier than this : D And it wasnt bad too. But the award still goes to Paddington’s flatties. Oh yeah, just thot i’d mention that McD’s in S’pore has pancakes as a breakfast set. Oh, and they call them hotcakes. Not baddd. And after we were back from lunch in the afternoon, joeey just had to go online and discover that Hotel Nikko also had a pancake/waffle promo goin on *waaaah*
Why is it that me and my colleagues are endlessly talking about food? : )
i must be out of my mind blogging about pancakes!
Gawd…why has the weather been so *bleepin* hot these past few days? The weather gurus forecasted that this would be one hot dog year but HEY MANNN - this ain’t hot, it’s scorching! It’s so hot, my sweat evaporates even before it can fall onto the ground! LOL
A big fat reason why I can’t wait to move into my new place - air conditioning! And in case all of you are wondering NO, i have not even gotten the keys to the condo yet : ( Blame it on someone’s bank (i am just so tempted to mention the bank’s name) and it’s not my bank! Thank goodness i didn’t book that beautiful couch in Harvey Norman. Otherwise they would have probably auctioned it off in storage by now! *whole array of bad words* Now that beautiful couch is gone! : (( *leftover array of bad words* Looking at how things are progressing, i’m probably only gonna move in waaay after some others who have bought theirs later than me. Sigh. I signed the SPA in January ‘06, btw. Altho i’m buying time on paying the loan instalments but my impatience is heightening… and hell hath no fury like a woman scorned! hehehe…
The only consolation is that the place is beautiful and it’s quite worth the wait. It’s almost at penthouse level and has a gorgeous pool view. But one of the biggest motivations which drove me (and my other half of course : ) to buy this baby is that the unit number is similar to my birthday
!! (which is coming up soon btw, hint hint. hahaha! could anyone be any more blatant ; ) We weren’t even wary of that when we first viewed the property along with some others back in December ‘05. But when the agent later informed us of this, we just knew it was a sure sign that we had to get it! *grin* Not bad for a sub-sale purchase, huh? : )) And it’s brand new, freehold and comes with two free car parks too! Now, that’s hot.
Just another number…
Gooood morning : ) It’s Monday morning but I’m not feeling the Monday blues today. Well, not really ; ) Had a nice weekend which included catching one of the few last screenings of Lucky Number Slevin and i’m glad i did coz it was good! Anyway, i don’t think its showing anymore so for those who haven’t watched it, you know your alternatives (did i hear someone say Laser Boom? hehehe) If u liked Ocean’s Eleven/Twelve and Bourne Identity/Supremacy, you’ll love Slevin.
Also went to test-drive a few Japanese cars - the City, Civic and Sentra, which need no introduction. No qualms about which one my votes went to : ) In terms of design, space and power, the best-looking one takes the crown : D Originally wanted to get another car…but after much consideration decided that it was not the best for me in terms of space and price. Thankfully it didn’t become an impulse buy : ) Like if as if i’m not poor enuff. There go all my holiday plans flying off without me on the new Airbus A380… Such a beautiful, beautiful plane. Sigh, wish i was a pilot ; ) Then i could drive nice cars and fly nice planes! *hint hint*
Also watched this great Filipino movie which was showing on TV2 on Saturday nite til 2.30am. I’m no hardcore romantic at heart but i have to admit that this show was just so, so sweet! The three stories were somehow interlinked with one another and all featured a red VW Beetle. How cute is that : ) I haven’t had a good cry from a romantic movie in a loooong time but this one just about managed to pull my heart-strings! Wanna scour the stores for a vcd of this show.
Back from dreamland, after major procrastination - i have finally managed to calculate my Income Tax !! Will be submitting the form online though. It’s my first time doing it and i already have to pay tax : ( Wish i was an air stewardess… (i am so gonna get rapped for this one!)
And you’re watching…
Woohooo…it’s Idol madness again! And it’s finally down to the top 6. Ace Young was the most recent one out. How nervewracking! : ) I hope either one of my favourites win :-
Nanny McPhee!!! Have you ever heard such a beautiful voice? I especially loved it when she sang Christina Aguilera’s The Voice Within. Amazing. She sings much better than Kellie Calamari Pickler : ) Kellie is just cute. But Katherine has real talent.
The Vin Diesel lookalike! Love the style, love the voice. Loved his rendition of Innuendo during the Queen-themed show, a song that the band reportedly never performed live before .
3) Elliot Yamin
The Radio DJ-turned-idol : ) Love how he can turn almost any tune into his hip-hop signature style. Am hoping he’ll be in at least the Top 3. What a breath of fresh air!
Only one thing i can say : IF ONLY WE COULD VOTE!!! I mean…just compare our Malaysian idol winners with some of the auditioners who didn’t even make it to the Top 12 of American Idol. ‘Nuff said…
Queer as folk…
Am busy as heck but my fingers are itching to type out an entry! This golb*blog is getting to be very addictive…
Finally, finaaallly watched Brokeback Mountain last nite after all the Oscars hype has died down : ) And i have to say that it’s not as gay as you would think! It’s in fact one of the better movies i’ve watched this year and the simple storyline but great acting and cinematography makes it a rather comfy watch after all! : ) Highly recommended. My vote would go to Jake Gyllenhaal as the best actor in this show. "My, what expressive blue eyes you have!" Such a pity they didn’t pick up more Oscars from the eight nominations that they received.
Thanks to the person whose name is mentioned most frequently in my blog for lending me that award-winning super clear vcd for awards-winning purposes ! : P Lend me Pride and Prejudice next, kay? Lurved the book, will surely lurve the movie ; p
Gimme a blow…
I just bought a lollipop from Guardian at 90 sen and guess what’s the brand? It’s
hahahahah!!! I accidentally tore the wrapper whilst unwrapping it, so i couldn’t take a pic of the brand : ) but here it is now. It’s actually named as such coz after you’re done erm…sucking the lollipop, there’s a bubblegum in the center! So u can give it a blow pop!!! Think it’s been around for a while but i just never realised it ; ) Am struggling to finish mine now tho…
before my boss sees me like this !!
hahaha…i did it, joeeey : )
Secs & the City…
Hey everyone…any idea when the real Secretary’s Day is? On my Russ calendar, (which marks not only public hols but seasonal dates as well - courtesy of luciawee@mvc) it’s marked as 21 April but further surfing on the net shows that it’s celebrated anytime from 17-26 April. Hmm…bottomline is, am thinking of where to send my secretary for lunch (as are all of my other lurvely colleagues, ya? let’s bundle them all off together to the same place la. saves time) Have found some promos on the net but the most geographically suitable will of course be Hotel Nikko, Corus Hotel or Mandarin Oriental for obvious reasons : ) Prices are about the same and still within the primafacie-i-can-still-afford-that range. Since i’m sharing my sec with someone else, here’s hoping she will voluntarily (wtf?! dream on) foot the bill instead (let me tell u bout this great italian place…) ; ) She can jolly well afford it anyways ; P Even if K-S doesn’t fork out anything, i’ll probably get her (the sec) something anyway : D She definitely deserves a good break… I mean, who else do u forward all your calls to when you’re on leave? : ) Hey they should have an appreciation of legal assistants@loyars day as well hee hee! Might as well make it a month while they’re at it. Can i just go ahead and establish a holiday? All nonsense aside, suggestions for other affordable lunch venues are very welcome : ) But not TOO affordable laa… *lol*
Home is where…
Was back in my hometown, Malacca over the weekend and aside from my lurvely bed back at home, below are the top reasons (in no particular order) why i love my Malacca (and you cannot get better ones anywhere in Malaysia) : ~
Satay Celup
1. Satay Celup - take your pick between Capitol, Moon Luck, the one on Jln Ong Kim Wee (i forgot its name - my sis will be able to tell u) and Pai May Siang (PMS!) in Kampung Lapan. My faves are Capitol for the sauce & Moon Luck for the variety of other food available ; )
Tauhu Bakar
2. Tauhu Bakar - the back alley next to Madam King’s : ) I prefer the one which is not owned by the one-armed man… Forced to visit this place all the time by my sister : D You can also have your helpings of siham (cockles) & lala (the edible bivalve, not the yellow Teletubby) here : )
Nyonya dishes
3. Nyonya Food - i like Nancy’s Kitchen, at 3rd Cross Street (Jalan Hang Lekir) off Jonker Street : ) Lil promo here, this great eatery belongs to a friend’s mum. I love the Cendol, Sei Bak and Geraguh here! My fave Nonya Restaurant after having sampled some others in town ; )
Chicken Rice Ball & Chicken : )
4. Chicken Rice Ball - Famosa CRBs…although i don’t like this as much as i used to, in the olden days : ) Previously the balls were made by hand and by rolling the rice together but now it’s mass produced using some form of machinery. Also much, much smaller in size than in its golden years. Tee hee, sounds so weird.
Cendol & Ais Kacang
5. Cendol - cendols that use Gula Melaka in diabetic proportions. Need i say more? : ) I love the one in Kota Laksamana/Heeren Street ; ) & Nancy’s Kitchen.
Check out this site for more of the reasons why Malacca is always jam-packed with tourists during weekends and public hols ; ) Home sweeeet home…
Sunny side up…
