Sweets for my sweet…

Ahh…just what i needed to lift up my spirits ; ) After the last post, i had a nice weekend. Of course it was another tiring one and another trip to Ikea was called for (Another one before their sales end on 20 August anticipated too - kekeke. dont i sound like i own shares in that company or sumthing?). I met an ex-school mate, who to my delight was living in the same condo as mine - just a few floors down : )) And i received a call from a couple of my dearest ex-housemates in uni (yes, they had to be two of the nicest, most friendly & helpful people on earth) for news of their wedding in September! Congratulations, jym & fang. Finally !!! ; ) Don’t worry, your house will be ready soon.

Anyways, with so much rushing there wasn’t enough time for my other half to take a bus or train back to Singapore yesterday. So we booked a flight, on MAS to JB. Not Air Asia, coz if u looked at their ticket counter in KL Sentral on Sunday you’ll know why. (They don’t accept phone/online bookings for tickets less than 24 hours before departure. So you’ll have to purchase the tics from either KL Sentral or KLIA) MAS, as usual, delayed the flight to almost an hour. Sigh…truly a five star airline? Strangely enough, according to my sis The Pilot’s flights are alwiz on time : )) For those not in the know, my sis’ boyf is a junior pilot with MAS hehe. Must hitch a ride one day…

Today is officially my fourth year anniversary with Chai Sern : ) And we were both supposed to be on leave today but he couldn’t coz he had some big project to work on. So i decided rather than stay at home alone with nothing really much to do, i came to work today as well since i also have some urgent stuff to do. And i came to work to a nice surprise ; ) Aww…wuv eem cho much !! Thanks, dearest :-* (he’s not the flower sending type so i got quite a pleasant surprise hehehe. most ppl would note that i’ve never received flowers the the office before, unlike ____ , ____, and ____ . *LOL* u know who u are ~ fill in the blanks)

Friday the 28th…

I hate today. Today appears to be another one of my bad luck days. In fact, when bad luck hits me, it always seems to hit like bullets from a machine gun rather than like pellets from a revolver. My luck is so bad today, that I though I should pen, no type it down so that hopefully a week or a month or a year from now I can look back at this and actually LAUGH. sigh…

The morning started off pretty okay, save for the fact that i sorta smelled something bad coming. Just a gut feeling. So i went to the bank in the morning to pay my housing loan instalment, coz even though I have created a standing instruction there wasn’t sufficient time to process the payment for this month. So i still had to manually withdraw the cash and bank it in for July (they dont accept internet banking payments or ATM transfers). When i saw the balance in this account i shared, i panicked - coz the balance looked a tad too little. So instead of incurring double payment (in case they HAD already deducted the cash) i ran upstairs to check all my receipts and online figures to double confirm. Turned out no deduction had been made - maybe we just hadnt refuelled the account in a while, with so many other payments to make and all. So i had to run down again and make the deposit.

Then halfway into the morning a colleague announces something to me that although neither of us know if it’s true or just fabricated but it just happened to suck the living daylights out of my today. Some humans just dont ever learn when enough is enough. Sigh…it’s okay. As i said once before, i believe in karma. And i’ve seen the results before my very eyes. Nevertheless, if karma never ever finds their addresses or phone numbers, there’s alwiz punishment in the after-life to counter that. See pics below.

Then at lunch time, i have more banking to do. Hate it. Im just gonna end up creating standing instructions everywhere to save time although im gonna end up paying a bit more. So i rush to KLCC and rush to this bank opposite KLCC to pay my car loan instead. The idiot at the branch i previously paid in said we could use our credit card to pay for the car loans. Turns out that convenience never existed. So i had to line up at the super-crowded ATM (only ONE was working, thanks so much) to withdraw more cash. Maybe the system was busy, maybe coz my ATM card was from a different bank, maybe everything is just out to get me today - the vunderful machine could not process my transaction. Fantastic. So since the deadline for payment was today (yes, and i only knew at the counter coz all my loan correspondences and docs were sent to my hometown address and i dont have a copy here), i rushed back across the worse road in the world to cross in all the hazy, traffic-fumed splendour and back to KLCC to locate an ATM of a similar bank.

Luckily there was a small branch on the concourse level so i went down and had to queue up again, coz it’s pay time and everyone is withdrawing money for whatever purposes they needed it for. And when it was my turn, the stupid ATM didn’t allow for a withdrawal of more than X amount. Dammit, im sure i already changed that previously. So i had to further waste time and withdraw from 2 separate accounts, then rushed back again across the busy road to the relevant bank to pay the stupid loan. I hate loans. I wish i was just so rich i could pay off for everything in cash and not bother bout stupid loans from the land of hassledom, banks. Dream on.

Anyway, i had other things to rush as well in one tight lunch hour. When i arrived back in KLCC i still has to rush to the post office to send something urgent off by express mail, and to do that i had to line up again. Grrr. Once that was done, i still had to eat but there was no time to properly sit down and have lunch (and any eatery in the whole damn KLCC would be sardinised at lunch hour anyway) so i bought this take-away set from King Pie. I thought it would be fast since the pies were all ready-made on the shelves but nooooo. They still had to bake the fries. So rather than stand there and wait, i told them i would be back to collect the food in a while and rushed off to Eclipse to collect my altered pants.

Sigh, it was more waiting as the sales girl couldnt find my pants in the store and when she finally did, she took her own sweet time in wrapping them and asking me if i wanted to try them on but of course i said NOOOO IMMMM IN A BEEEEG RUUUSSH and then she quickened her pace to frantic. Once that was done, i rushed back to King Pie and expected to see my meal all happily packed and ready to go but guess what? My fries were still in the oven!!! When they saw me they quickly took them out, and the idiot manning the counter had the cheek to look at the fries and tell me: Oh dear. I think they’re over cooked. Arghhhhh!!!! i said i dont care. im in a rush so could you please just put everything in the plastic bag so i can run. And ran i did, to the parking ticket machine coz i didnt want to be late by just a few minutes and be charged for that.

And when i reached the ticket machine - lo and behold. It was out of order when it worked fine every other time i was there. So nevermind, the machine indicated we could still pay at a machine two floors below. So i rushed down, or at least i tried to coz the stupid elevator was extra slow today (im sure the stars are out to get me today) and when i finally stuck the ticket in the machine, it read 1 hour and 3 minutes. ARGGGGHHHHHHHH…i had to pay an additional RM1 for those 3 minutes and it all wouldnt have happened if - - - : ( Sighhh nevermind. Then the drink which i was holding spilt on top of my feet and the bag i was carrying, coz there was no place to put it on when i was paying. *All the bad words in the world in every thinkable language*  At this point, i accepted my fate and moved on.

And when i thought nothing worse could happen, when i drove out and was rushing back to the office, there’s this bus which has to block the passageway out to the main road and everyone is left stuck in a jam which lasted almost 15 minutes. Whilst everyone was honking, i was making the best of the situation and munching on the pie and gawd-awful fries, my feet sticky from the spilt drink and pressing on the brake. Ahhh…and i just washed my car yesterday.

There were a few more random and slightly tinier pieces of bad luck hurled into my face today, but i dont think they’re significant enough to mention here so i wont, before i start getting condolence notes from everyone : ) Yup…one day im gonna look back on this and laugh? Cry? Choke? Strangely enuff, these kind of Bad Luck Day experiences seem to happen to me quite regularly, and best of all - it has NEVER hit me on a Friday the 13th. *grin*

Because i’m worth it…

I went to KLCC today at lunch time to do some banking and was rushing like heck. But the sales just got the better of me. I hate the word Sale. Especially when the clothes fit so right. So i unwillingly (?!) bought two pairs of pants from Eclipse, but needed to get them altered coz they were too long - like all those MNG and Zara pants. I left them with the shop to be altered. I also managed to grab a conditioner on the go. It’s not the one i normally use, but heck i dont have the time to go to a proper place to buy the one i normally use. Besides, this one was new and slightly cheaper and i wanted to try it out : )

Check out the advert for the new Elseve product : ) We’ll see if it works, or else i’ll just revert to my usual Vitamino Colour. Yeah, yeah like my other half can’t understand why i need to buy a RM50 shampoo and RM100 treatment for my hair but at the end of the day it still looks like dried grass : P Coz if i don’t, it will look like dried grass in flames…

On the bright side, i also got my Ikea Friends Visa Card today. Sigh…another case of too little too late. I’m also really busy today so gotta make this a short one ; )

The simple life…

And another weekend has come and gone in what felt like a nano-second just like that. All my weekly shopping trips must be burning off more calories than full-fledged work outs. This is yet another weekend spent shopping for my house, and please don’t remind me that the Malaysian Mega Sale Carnival is on but I don’t have the time or money to buy anything other than household stuff : ( [damn all those dresses which are calling out my name]

I’ve been to Midvalley four times this week already. Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Like a mad fool. My sister’s company would be so proud of me haha. Friday evening after work I braved the mad Friday jams to head over to MV and buy a retractable clothes hanger/dryer and fitted sheets for my guest room. I figured I would be saving some time off mad Saturday if I could buy some smaller items first. Then on Saturday, when my other half had returned again (I need him for the carrying of the heavier stuff) we went to Carrefour MV and bought an air-cond for the guest room.

Then we headed over to Ikea. Quoting Li yen, thank goodness for Ikea. And further thanks to almighty goodness for the Ikea sale. In the five hours we spent there, we managed to buy a myriad of items which included 5 lamps, kitchenware, cutlery, shower curtain rod/curtain, mugs, wine glasses, floor mats, and I don’t know what the heck else but it actually came up to more than RM1k. No furniture included. Damn the fact that I haven’t received that stupid Ikea Friends Card. The issuing bank went to send me a classic visa card for gawdnoeswat reason. The credit cards must all be out to get me. Sigh…and I’m still not done. I still need to get a standing lamp, bedside lamps, some stools and bar stools for the mini-bar. My car was too full to fit anything else yesterday, coz we also bought a remote-control ceiling fan from Harvey Norman.

Sunday morning we met the renovator again to instruct him on where to install the lamps, air conds and other mountable stuff. We also went through the grill door and mini bar designs. Us alcoholics decided that a mini-bar was essential way back when we first bought the condo LOL. The funny bit was walking around the floor and looking at other peoples’ grill doors to see if there was any design we wanted to copy. At the end I got fed up and just simply picked one out from the booklet. It’s just a gate anyway, and although I liked my neighbour’s gate very much, im sure they wouldn’t relish the idea of sharing the design with 2 others on the floor (there was another unit with the exact design : ) Then we went to Midvalley again coz my other half wanted to get a DVD player and home theater system along with a toolbox and trolley. We ended up buying nothing coz we were rushing for time and everything we wanted wasn’t to our liking.

Today there was this group of elderly people staying in one of the corner units on our floor who took the elevator down with us. And they asked whether we rented or bought the unit. To which we said we bought it, but we haven’t moved in coz it was still being renovated. And one of them (their representative, we reckon : )) told us – if we had met u sooner we would have told you to rent first and wait for the price to go down, then buy it. We were like huh ? The price was going down? And he said yes, coz of Bird Flu. Hahahaha…whatever happened to the investment in property being a profit-guaranteed investment? Bird flu happened.

Under one roof…

HomepagepicI went for the Metrojaya preview sales last nite at The Curve, since I was a member and all, to check if they had any particularly good discounts on the remaining househld products which I was Relocationsalepicsupposed to get. Also coz they were opened til 12am last nite and were serving free supper of coffee/tea and Malaysian kueh’s. When the Metrojaya in Section 14, PJ closed down previously (i was sad-that was one of my fave places to shop!) they announced that they were moving to the Curve. I remember during their closing down sales, i was there almost every other day! Everything was so cheap - we managed to salvage those high-quality comforter & bedsheet sets for only RM100+ and nice pillows etc. So there i went thinking lock-stock-and-barrel had been shifted to the Curve but i was proven wrong !! There weren’t ANY household stuff in this outlet. Only clothes and accessories. Determined that I had to come back with at least a glimpse of what I wanted to buy, my sis suggested we go to the Midvalley branch : ) At that time it was already 10.45pm.

So as usual, I stepped on the gas pedal and managed to get us in and walking around Midvalley by 11pm. And we skipped the first two floors of the men’s and women’s departments and went straight to the top floor, skimming it in record-breaking speed with only an hour to go. I didn’t make any purchases last nite though, coz i wanted to wait for my other half to get back this weekend first. But im glad i went : D I have spotted several items which were in need and which i previously did not know where to find them from there. *grin*

Today i am informed that the Ikea sales are also starting soon, if they havent already started : ) Happy, happy. I didn’t buy any of my larger furniture from Ikea coz i dont think that their quality is really made to last, but i alwiz lurve it for the smaller and practical items which everyone could use. Problem is, what you have your neighbours would also probably have hehe. Generic is the term when it comes to Ikea. Was pouring through their catalogue in pdf format (ouch my eyes!) trying to pin-point the stuff I need and want so that it will cut time in half this weekend when I really do make a visit. Gawd, there’s gonna be so much to do again this weekend. *sighs*

Prior to this I was pretty mad that I got my condo so late, but now im actually thankful coz the right sales are happening at the right time ; )

The worst local bank…

I have this credit card from a local bank which is really stupid. Firstly, the credit limit for the card is actually lower than my salary. Fine, except that i have more big purchases to make these days and what’s the use of a card which only allows me to spend in aggregate an amount of money which i can easily withdraw from the ATM and carry about?

Secondly, the chip alwiz gets spoiled. I mean, how many cards do u know that have chips which get faulty just a few months into using the darned card? So i requested for a new card. Fiiiine, no biggie. Problem is, it’s acting up again. Not even a month after i’ve received the new card. Ptuuii !! I think they even charge for replacement cards, something which i only found out after.

Thirdly, there came a point when I just couldn’t stand the stupid credit limit any more. Coz, let’s face it. A girl’s just gotta spend. On necessities. So i request for a review of the brainless limit and enclose my salary slips, yadda yadda. And they call me and ask me Which officer recommended the credit limit increase to me? So i said None, i requested for the form myself. And then they say, But im sorry. Without a referee we can’t process your application. So i say, i don’t care. You’d better process it. I need it urgently. (Read: Im probably gonna spend way above what i can afford hence the possibility of not paying back in time and this is where your bank normally earns in interest. Capiche?) And it’s not like i’ve not been paying all my bills on time and in full anyway. You have it in your hand don’t you? Just put your name as the referee, i dont care.

And then we wait and wait and still no news of a credit limit increase, all this whilst i happily spend til i reach my limit away every month. So i finally got pissed and called them to ask about their stupid process, that of which was previously explained to me by their officers would have only taken five days. And after a loooong explanation and waiting for their confirmation on the phone for 10 mins or so, guess what they said? I’m sorry ma’am. It doesnt say anything here about a request for a credit limit increase. I’m afraid you’ll just have to re-send your application.

You can bet that at this point i was on the brink of threatening to cancel their flippin’ card and just switch to another as my main card - say Citibank coz they alwiz know how to increase your limit automatically. (so u know my card’s not from Citibank hehe. what i can reveal is that it’s almost as popular as Citibank in Malaysia now. Yep, u guessed rite) But i held on, since the poor girl on the other end wasn’t the earlier bastard that called me but never submitted my application. So i sweetly said Okay, i will re-fax the application form to you but make sure this time you don’t lose it again. And she says yes, gave me her name and fax number, and proceeded to direct me to the download centre for the online form. She failed in her explanation miserably asking me to look between icons and all so i said it’s okay, i’ll just look for it myself. I managed to find it in about three seconds after i replaced the receiver.

Sigh…imagine the utter frustration. So im sending the useless credit limit increase application form to them again today and am gonna see how long they take this time. I mean, i actually dont wanna part with this card coz they have pretty good benefits and discounts with a large number of merchants in Malaysia. But what good is a card if you can’t use it? ; )

The bare necessities…

Im beginning to miss all those weekends where I actually thought doing nothing save for lazing around at home the whole day was a waste of precious time. Now it seems like all my weekends are spent running around more than I’d like to. Like for example, the recent weekend. I had sooo many things to do I didn’t even have time to go catch a movie, so it was a blessing in disguise that I didn’t get the tickets the other day after all. Saturday was spent running around almost all the major electrical outlets comparing & buying buying buying the home appliances. Thankfully in just a day we managed to pick out a good-looking fridge, washing machine, tv, air-cond and kettle : ) Never, ever take shopping for a home for granted. It’s more demanding than shopping for anything else. Our home was partially renovated when we bought it, so it saved us the hassle of installing 1 air cond unit, the water heaters, the kitchen cabinets, stove, cooking hob, the curtain + railings and all the ceiling lamps. The previous owner had good taste in selecting these, though : )

Sunday was for the balance furniture instead. Last weekend we already managed to furnish the 2nd bedroom and smaller items, this weekend we met our aim in furnishing the rest of the home ie. the master bedroom, living room and dining area. I had to get the largest wardrobe that fit my bedroom coz I have too darned many clothes : P Then there was the meeting with another renovator and the long, long explanation of what we wanted, selecting of materials and finally the haggling of the price. It’s terrifying what it costs to beautify a home these days. You could buy a small car with the money. Thank goodness we didn’t buy a house instead. I would have probably surrendered the planning for that to a designer. And the finances to someone else ; ) I am proud to say we managed to do up the whole place with our own savings. (Okay, so my other half paid for almost 85% of it but I contributed where I could) It hurt both of us like heck though.

So thankfully, the major bit of the shopping is over. Now all that’s left is shopping for the ornaments that will adorn the whole darned place haha. Oh yeah, and the 3rd bedroom cum study. Any donors? ; ) Have sent the curtains to be laundered as well before the renovation works commence. My house-warming wont be anytime soon though, coz some people are being a bit cautious about the whole double-seventh moon this year in the Chinese calendar thingy. And I respect that. So the earliest I can foresee will be September. Good, that will give me more time to settle in. I should be able to move in (and by move in I mean physically live in the place and not just hold the keys) by mid-August though.

Bloody tiring this one, im so glad I don’t have to do it all alone : )

Cars and gripes…

2006accordfacelift22006accordfacelift17

new Accordst120928a.jpgold Accord

The new Honda Accord has finally been launched! But i would have to say based on the pics, there is not much difference in the exterior look from the older model save for the back. The new car-butt looks like an E-class. I prefer the older model, really. Then again, will need to pay a visit to the showroom before we make judgements. When Honda first released the new City as well everyone commented that the older one looked better. But i guess it just took a little getting-used to as now the new one does appear to be more appealing : )

Satrianeo_front_inside I have also seen the new Proton Satria Neo on the road the other day : ) Heck, it was driving right behind me so i managed to take a good look. It actually doesn’t look too bad, especially the red model that i saw. The front looks a tad sportier than a Gen 2. Sorta like a baby Civic : ) This would be a great budget buy, for those who don’t mind 2 door cars at least. Otherwise, the MyVi is everyone’s favourite "little" car : ) I would have bought it as well if weren’t for the waiting list. Cute, cute car ; ) (And i said MyVi, not Savvy!!!)

I went to the Curve last nite with my sis (actually i parked in the Curve, hehe) coz we wanted to buy tickets to watch Pirates of the Caribbean this weekend at Cathay. I love the Curve. Or rather that little enclave containing it and its surrounding shops. The Curve & Co., hehe. I seem to keep going there, and it helps that its just about a 10 min drive from my house. And we saw Adam and Marion having dinner at TGIF. Filling their tummies prior to last nite’s Quickie i suppose. Anyway, the tickets i wanted for Sat. nite were all sold out save for the three front rows so i said forget it. What’s a girl to do, when their (ie. Cathay’s) phone is eternally engaged and their online booking page alwiz can’t load? : ) No matter. Will watch it somewhere else. I know a place where i am alwiz guaranteed tickets!

And before i forget - hurraaaay coz it’s Fridaaaaay !!!!

joeeey & co : my heart & salutation go out to u babes for having to work over the weekend on that Double D…hang in there and we’ll see if i can join you next week. bitch about ppl, it alwiz helps to past the time - hehehe…

Durian_1And last but not least - liew lian, anyone? : ) eileen are u goin for this ?!

For want of better word…

I realised today that some people have just elevated the term demented to a whole new celestial level, heh. I admit, its never good to bitch about someone (albeit the fact that everyone does it regularly anee-way), but this is one case where i have to say, has been blown out of proportion. (Did i spell that correctly? Yes i did. Spell check, spell check. A word uncannily missing from some people’s vocab) Word has grammar check too, yah ; ) Parlez-vous Anglais? Or as joeeey once termed it, Engrish hehe. Anyway, if any of you are reading this and think that it’s directed at you - worry not coz i can assure you it’s not. Just one of those not-so random musings that are only reserved for moments like these : ) And humans like that.

Judging from this blog i think everyone can see that i’ve not been in the best of moods in the past few days frankly coz there are too many things to do and think about in too short a time. Thankfully stuff have not been overly heavy on the work front. Not unless i choose my destiny for it to be so hehehe… Sigh, if only we could all be young and carefree screaming hissy fits children once again. Minus the exams and homework, of course ; )

Col_bucketPs : I tried the new Cheesy BBQ Meltz from KFC yesterday and have to admit that it’s really good ; ) I’m a sucker for new products and will alwiz try them out, but most have been rather disappointing relying only on their silly ads for first-timers. But this one was good. Only downside is that it doesnt come in a set meal. Probably coz they knew it was gonna sell like hot erm…tortillas? : ) A foreign acquaintance once pointed out that nowhere else in the world will you find as many KFC outlets as in our very own Boleh-land. Yeah! Malaysia boleh makan!!

I’ve also sent something for something which will cost me a lot of money *sob* *sob* And no, it has nothing to do with diamond rings or beach holidays : P Here’s leaving all you Zidane fans with something memorable ; )
