I’ve been having the sniffles and a sore throat since Sunday. But it’s not so bad that i ever needed to blog about it before : )) Anyway i just got some clarinase from Guardian on my secretary’s recommendation so i hope it does the trick. It’s supposed to clear up a cold within hours of ingestion.

Last nite i watched this weird 2003 movie called The Sleeping Dictionary, which believe it or not, starred Jessica Alba as a native Iban and was shot in Sarawak and focused on the British colonial times. They must have painted Jessica Alba’s skin to an Asian hue coz i really dont remember her being that colour in Dark Angel (pardon the pun) and Fantastic Four… but the weirdest bit is the reason why they name these women "sleeping dictionaries". Apparently they were living breathing translators who also slept with the British officers. A sleep-in language teacher. Oh, and they had babies with their colonial masters too. Weird. It’s no wonder why some Sarawakians look abit Eurasian. I dont even know why i watched the show apart from the fact that it actually involved a Malaysian community. And Jessica Alba playing an Iban. Weird weird weird.

Speaking about sleeping dictionaries…recently i realised that many people who began blogging with all the gusto of a little toddler learning to walk have actually let their blogs die simpliciter. Maybe it’s coz they’re just tired of writing, maybe it’s coz they found something more constructive to do with their time, or maybe they’ve just moved on. I know of some people who have stopped blogging due to negative comments from the readers of their blog, but we all know that once u decide to place something in the public eye, you should learn how to deal with feedback favourable or otherwise. I still consider myself a baby in the blogging kingdom, so i dont even know how long i’ll maintain this blog. And i do somehow see myself exporting all the content from here to another blog somewhere in the near future, just coz friendster blogs are too basic and restrictive. There are so many things which i’d like to do but i cant here. Like post videos for instance.

So another question is: why even bother starting a blog if u know u’re not the type to ever follow up on stuff? Many reasons i suppose. Some are in it for the money, some for the fame. Some just want a cosy little avenue to vent their frustrations. Some want to make a point. Some want to spread a message to the world. Some want to brag. Some want to defame others. And some just use it as an alternative to the classic Dear Diary writing. Whatever the reason, weblogs are an extension of a person’s identity whether they admit or not - and sometimes you find out amazing things about others from their blogs which u would have never known of if they never wrote about it. Why else would you be hooked on the every day life of a perfect stranger when you might not even want that person to be your friend in the concrete world?
Whatever it is, i hope my friends dont ever stop blogging. Especially those who are linked on my page : )) And those who arent but whose blogs i read, u know who u are ; )
