I hate hate hate Avenue K. Apologies to those who love the place. It must have the most stupid & confusing parking lot in the whole of KL. The signage is terrible and there is only ONE ticket payment machine in the whole entire building - and IN the mall at that. So u probably have to scan all the floors before coming across the darned machine located at the far end near KGB. KGB is Kim Gary Beyond - dont even try asking me what the heck the last bit is in there for. Not only that, they also have terribly confusing labelling of all the floors which are B1, B2 and B3 (okay - these are fine and obviously are basement levels), C (concourse?), UC (im guessing upper concourse), M (mezzanine?) G (ground) and L1, L2 & L3 (levels 1-3). So when u put them altogether on the parking lift buttons and dont have a bloody legend ANYWHERE to refer to, u get:
B3 B2 B1 C UC M G L1 L2 L3
After u get out of the parking elevators, it takes another guess as to which of the many doors around lead to where. We actually stopped on about 3 floors before finding our way out of there. Another gripe is that the whole place is still pretty vacant. Yeah, they were pure geniuses to open a mall directly opposite KLCC with boutiques carrying almost the same brands. And food - there’s hardly anywhere to eat. The ones i know are KGB, Kiku Zakura, Roma Pizza and Hainan Kitchen (i only know of this one coz we had to go thru a different passageway on a different floor to pay the stupid parking ticket).
The very first time i drove there to park in this oddity, i spent almost half an hour looking for my car because they conveniently shut off all of the parking exits after 11pm (including the one which i came out from) and the guard let us into a totally different one at a totally different area. Me & joeeey panicked like heck because:-
1. We thought the parking ticket exit time would lapse; and even worse
2. We though my car had been stolen.
We actually walked up and down several floors looking for my car.
Next : When u exit the parking, there’s this sign next to the parking ticket machine that reads " DEAR SEASON PARKERS…". Season PARKERS ??!!! Does that word even exist?! Correct me if im wrong, but shouldnt it be something like Season Parking users or tenants or something??? Or are they addressing a bunch of Parker pens that are reallyn in season & can drive?
Gawwwd i hate that place.
Heheh, that one’s really getting your goat, isn’t it?
My main gripe is there’s not enough parking in Perth. And when you do find somewhere to park [let's say for work] its really expensive since th minimum you can expect to pay is about $1.20 [equivalent of RM3.60] per hour. And assuming you’ll be parked there for 8 hours, you talking about $12.00/RM36.00 per day.
I could go on about how much that is in the month and then the year [and how much other stuff could have been bought for that amount] but I think my point has been made.
Incidentally, I HATE getting stuck in traffic within the car park [I hate it anywhere, really] becaue I always worry that the exit time has reached its limit and I’ll have to pay again. Grrrr…..
Parking in KL is really expensive too. It goes up to as high as RM8 per hour and when we’re earning in RM it’s not really that sweet…And when u go clubbing be prepared to fork out about RM10 for open space parking which can peak to RM20 on public hols. Might as well valet park yeah.
The season parking at my office can go up to a max of RM24 a day if im not mistaken. Thankfully my firm is paying for all its lawyers’ parking bays : )
Avenue K sucks not so much for the price of its parking, but for the parking area itself!! Where’s their suggestion box?!
Well, they probably know how crap it is hence the reason for no suggestion box.
Scott and I will probably drive to KL so I really do hope you have gurest parking. But we’ll probably also stay with my aunt who’s quite near KLCC so we can leave the car there and the cab it the rest of the way.
I have 2 parking lots, so it depends whether my bf is in KL as well. If its a weekday i think ur safe : )) But the parking is accessible by swipe card. There’s visitor parking but i dont think they allow overnight parking for that…alternatively the lots beside me are still empty haha.
Cool. It will probably be over the week as well. We didn’t get nearly enough time there during the last trip over. I’m going to need my Topshop, Miss Selfridge and Dorothy Perknis fix.
OK, but my house is quite far frm KLCC. About an hour’s drive in the jam/20min if u go above 100 all the way haha. However, u could go to 1 Utama or the Curve which is nearer. The parking is cheaper too. We’ll talk bout the alternatives if and when u get here : ))
