I went back to Malacca again last weekend. The drive back was good, mainly coz it was at midnite so there were less cars on the highway.
However, I cannot stand driving in Malacca. Malacca drivers are just awful. Although KL (and Penang) drivers are known to be more aggresive, Malacca drivers are just plain reckless. I’ve lost count of the number of times i had to hit on the breaks because cars simply swerve out of their lane into the main road WITHOUT first looking if there are on-coming cars. Champions. And then the road warriors who switch lanes without signalling but with cars on the other lanes caught unawares. And the most courteous drivers in Malaysia are probably found here. Try driving out from a lane (eg. the one leading to my house) on a traffic heavy road. You’ll either:-
(a) Wait for at least 15min; or
(b) End up with an accident (like my first time driving years back)
Cars here just dont know the meaning of stopping to let u out. And when a kind sould finally does stop, you’ll find an asshole overtaking that car from the left. Sigh…
On Saturday nite we went for tauhu bakar again : ) And after that to Jonker Street, or now better known as Jonker Walk. Although im local, i love walking along Jonker street to look at all the knick-knacks the street has to offer. Strangely enuff, i’ve seen souvenirs which i’ve bought from Phuket & Bali in some of the shops ; ) We bought some porcelain bowls & spoons & rosewood chopsticks for my new house. Then we had drinks at Geographer Cafe. I think that the beer here is slightly cheaper than at other places at only RM31.90 a jug. So we had two : P
Whilst enjoying the beer we were also provided with free entertainment vide a bunch of drunk tourists literally dancing on the street to music from the live band and the crowd cheering them on : ) I took a vid of them dancing to YMCA but after viewing it decided not to upload it coz i could hear my sis going "They dont know how to do lah!" louder than i could hear the music hehe…
One strange sight to behold in Malacca (at least for me) is the one on the huge overhead bridge leading from Tesco in Malacca and stretching til the Malacca Sentral bus terminal. There were people eating on the bridge!! On tables!!! Only later did i discover that there were actually some shoplots on the bridge itself. Making full use of the expensive infrastructure i see…
On Sunday evening the drive back was not as eventful as Friday nite. There were way too many cars and too many idiots on the roads. There are idiots who either drive too fast or waaaay too slow and hog the fast lane. F*ckstrating. Go fly kites and make sure they’re attached to your cars and big enuff to pull u along!!!
Im reaaally lazy to blog today. But i just did, didn’t i? Wa hey!

Ummm, is it supposed to be worrying that Scott has absolutely no problem diving in Malacca? Even I would never try it. By the way, you raging ALCOHOLIC!
They don’t know how to do wat!
This is how i can summarise it: It’s more difficult to drive in KL but it’s more dangerous to drive in Malacca : ) Or maybe im just the impatient sort, and just a teeny bit on the aggressive side so i cant tolerate rude road users ; P
This testimony comes not only from me but from Malaccans who have resided & driven in KL for a bit and go home once in a while, and friends from elsewhere who visit Malacca for a holiday. We need to prolong driving school i think…with PROPER tests.
Hahahaha, I would agree there. We didn’t do much driving in KL since we had no idea where to go and I really suck as a guide. I swear, I couldn’t even read street maps till I got to Perth in 2002.
